Carlisle man accused of breaking into South Middleton home, shooting ex-wife waives preliminary hearing – Carlisle Sentinel
A Carlisle man accused of breaking into a South Middleton Township home and shooting his ex-wife in the wrist waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday, according to court documents.
Joel Paugh, 29, was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, burglary and recklessly endangering another person for the May 3 incident.
Police said an intruder broke into a home on Neatherby Lane shortly after midnight and knocked on the bedroom door. Paugh’s ex-wife and her current boyfriend were inside.
After the boyfriend opened the door, the intruder shot Paugh’s ex-wife in the wrist, police said. She retrieved knives and she and her boyfriend were able to subdue the intruder.
A formal arraignment in the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 18.
Bail was denied in the case, and Paugh remains in Cumberland County Prison.
