A San Antonio police officer is facing charges after he allegedly took his ex-girlfriend’s cell phone and then called her so many times that she was unable to dial 911 for help.

Ofc. Kenneth Moreno was arrested and now faces a charge of stalking. Police officials say he will be booked into the Bexar County Jail on Thursday.

Moreno has been on administrative duty since May 6 following an incident involving another officer, Ofc. Nicollete Muniz, with whom Moreno is involved with romantically. Muniz is accused of assaulting Moreno’s then-girlfriend on April 19 and was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

On Wednesday, police received a call at about 6 p.m. from the ex-girlfriend, who said Moreno had taken her phone and had been “harassing her all day by calling and texting her repeatedly and driving to her house” on Lockhill Selma Road, according to a statement from the department.

Moreno also allegedly took her phone and attempted to search through it. Police said the ex-girlfriend then tried to call 911 but was unable to, as Moreno was “constantly” calling her phone. Moreno then fled the location, police said.

“The allegations against this officer are disturbing, especially in light of all the recent focus on domestic/dating violence,” said San Antonio Police Chief William McManus. “Simply put, this behavior is not acceptable and will not be tolerated by any member of the San Antonio Police Department.”

Police arrested Moreno on Thursday on the stalking charge and may face additional charges. He has been placed on administrative leave.
