A Sanford man who planned to have sex with 9-year-old and 11-year-old girls for his 35th birthday was sentenced to more than 30 years in federal prison Wednesday.

Andrew Goldberg admitted to creating Facebook groups for child pornography called “Glamorous Girls of All Ages” and “Family Funtime #2,” according to federal court records.

Goldberg posted sexually explicit photos and videos to the groups and made sexually explicit comments about images other group members posted, court records state. Each group had about 120 members.

An undercover FBI agent began corresponding with Goldberg online in June. Goldberg told the undercover agent he sexually molested a child in 2011 when he was 26 and the girl, his friend’s younger sister, was 7, according to court documents.

“It’s hard to find willing naughty little girls that won’t tell,” Goldberg said in an online chat with the undercover agent, according to court documents.

In July, Goldberg told the undercover agent his birthday was approaching and he wished he could play with a little girl. He continued to describe sexual fantasies.

The undercover agent offered two fictitious daughters, ages 9 and 11. Goldberg arranged to meet with the undercover agent and his daughters at a McDonald’s.

Goldberg was arrested at the McDonald’s on July 18 and confessed to the arrangement, according to court documents. FBI agents searched Goldberg’s phone and found 405 images of child pornography.

In October, Goldberg pleaded guilty to attempting to entice minors to engage in sexual activity and distributing child pornography. He must remain on a form of supervised released after his prison sentence.

Goldberg does not have a prior criminal history, but was addicted to drugs as a result of sexual abuse he suffered as a kid from his babysitter, his public defenders Karla Mariel Reyes and Donna Lee Elm argued in court documents.

Goldberg’s untreated trauma from the sexual abuse that began when he was 7 should warrant a lenient sentence, his lawyers argued. Goldberg and his lawyer requested 10 years in prison.
