Burglars posing as utility workers, police say
Burglars have posed as utility workers to get inside homes in the Bridgeport, Gage Park and McKinley Park neighborhoods this month, Chicago police said in a community alert.
Up to five men have taken part in the scheme, police said. The men gain access to the home and take property from inside. Police did not release a detailed description of the burglars.
The first incident was reported Jan. 5 in the 5300 block of South California Avenue about 3:15 p.m. in the Gage Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side, police said.
On Jan. 8, the burglars struck about 1:50 p.m. in the 2500 block of South Normal Avenue in the Bridgeport neighborhood on the Near Southwest Side, police said.
A third burglary was reported Jan. 10 at 3 p.m. in the 1800 block of West 34th Street in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The most recent burglary happened Saturday at 1:45 p.m in the 1300 block of West Fuller Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood, police said.
