Love triangle leaves man, 27, fatally shot on Manhattan street corner
A love triangle ended with a man shot to death on a Washington Heights street corner, police sources said, and now cops are asking the public’s help finding the alleged shooter.
Police on Sunday identified 31-year-old Lee Almonte as their prime suspect in the Dec. 3 murder of Yadel Garcia, 27. Garcia and Almonte were romantically involved with the same woman, police sources said.
Garcia was standing with friends on Broadway and W. 175th St., about a mile south of his Manhattan home, shortly after midnight, when a group of men approached him.
One man opened fire, hitting Garcia several times in the back, according to cops. Garcia went to NY-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center by private means, but he couldn’t be saved.
Police ask that anyone with information about Almonte’s whereabouts call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
